Borough of Manhattan Community College

Vice President for Information Technology 2014 to Present


Serving as BMCC’s first Vice President for Technology.  Lead a complex IT organization that supports 25,000 Students (pre-COVID) and 3200 Faculty and Staff.  Provide leadership for over 100 full and part-time IT & AV staff including Enterprise Systems, Media Center, Instructional Technology, Library, Adult and Continuing Education and Tribeca Performing Arts Center (TPAC).  Responsible for $8M annual budgets in a $180,000,000 organization.  Provide user-focused IT services and support for 3 buildings in lower Manhattan with additional classrooms and offices in Harlem, Washington Heights and Wall Street. Member of Cabinet reporting to the President.

COVID responses:  First CUNY College to implement Zoom at scale; Built cloud-based virtual call centers; Enabled faculty and staff “from a distance” technologies for instruction, student support, computing & telephony; Created virtual Service Desk environment; Custom programming to support student distribution of laptops and hotspots, and health screening; Implemented virtual computer labs to support students and instruction; Created HyFlex instruction spaces to support teaching and learning; Implemented a 2000 station/user Ring Central cloud phone solution with projected cost savings of $1M over 5 years


  • Integrate academic, administrative, Media Center, Public Affairs, Library, Public Safety and Tribeca Performing Arts Center IT functions into new Information Resources and Technology division
  • Develop strategic technology framework and operational planning models in alignment with BMCC Strategic Plan
  • Manage Cybersecurity, compliance and campus policy development
  • Establish standardized equipment purchasing, replacement cycles and inventory control
  • Re-vision services and renovate College Computer Center and Media Center, including television studios and editing suites
  • Lead in-house development of BMCC mobile application
  • Implement new ITSM-based service desk software to provide better support to students and faculty
  • Standardize technology across 250 classrooms with NEC bulbless projectors and Extron control panels
  • Develop 5-year forward-looking budget model including City, State and Grant-funded programs
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs Division to develop next-generation co-curricular transcript system
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs Division to implement student success and early alert systems
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management Division to support CRM recruiting and outreach functions
